學英文演講稿篇1

once man did not have to think about the protection of his environment. there were few people on the earth, and natural resources seemed to be unlimited.

today things are different. the world has become too crowded. we are using up our natural resources, and polluting our environment with dangerous chemicals. if we continue to do this, human life on earth will not survive.

we realize that if too many fish are taken from the sea, there will soon be none left. yet, with modern fishing methods, more and more fish are know that if too many trees are cut down, forests will disappear. yet, we continue to use powerful machines to cut down more and more trees. we see that if rivers are polluted with waste products, we will die. yet, waste products are still put into rivers.

we know that if the population continues to rise at the present rate, in a few years, there won't be enough can we do to solve these problems?

if we eat more vegetables and less meat, there will be more food available. land for crops feeds five times more people than land where animals are kept.

our natural resources will last longer if we learn to recycie them.

the world population will not rise so quickly if people use modern methods of birth control.

finally, if we educate people to think about the problems we shall have a better and cleaner planet in the future.

at todays class meeting, the topic of my speech is "environmental protection". why should i give a speech? because people have no awareness of environmental protection, on a street, some of the garbage regularly appear in front of us, cans, chewing gum, glass bottles and so on all the garbage scattered on the ground, "riotous with colour, all sorts of strange things". once foreigners saw it, we thought we were holding garbage. so, i hope that through this speech, people will be able to make a sense of environmental protection and make our homes a better place.

a lot of friends might say, "how do you make people today more environmentally conscious?"." there was no use for persuasion and punishment. the only way is to make people aware of how serious the consequences of littering, next, let me talk about the consequences of littering for everyone: first of all, the garbage will stack all leading aisle, walking is not convenient, then, rats, cockroaches, mosquitoes and other insects will be covered with trees throughout the city, but because be garbage the team was full and no nutrients can be absorbed and withered, the birds also to other places to live, so they have no natural enemies pests, will be more rampant, they put the rubbish around chiguang after to attack humans, civilians fight pests, had killed worms eat, finally, the whole city only only tens of millions of pests.

well, after listening to my story, do you think we should be environmentally conscious? dont wait until things are gone before you have something to do. you say, right?

it has been two years since i first got to university. some of my classmates say that the college life is boring, because they have plenty of time but do not know what to do. however, from my point of view, the campus life in college is interesting and colorful as long as you make it meaningful.

in the first semester in college, i didn't relax and i still worked hard as i was in the senior school. i usually spent two hours in study at night and i went to the classroom forautonomous the difference is that i have many extracurricular activities. for example, i went to the english corner regularly on tuesday night, in which i could practice my spoken english and make friends with common interests.

besides, i join the student union of my department. in the student union, i have a group of workmates who work hard together and support to each other. actually, it looks like a big, warm family that we can share our lives together. during various activities, i realize the importance of team spirit that helps us go further.

finally, college is great stage to improve a student and show one's abilities. in college, i know more about our society and get more channels to explore the outside world. i realize that i am not only a student but also an adult who is preparing to step into the society.

in short, i cherish my life in college campus and i will try hard to make it colorful as well as meaningful.

honorable judges, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen:

it is a great honor and pleasure to be here on this beautiful saturday morning to share with you my sentiments about life and passion for the english language.

about a year and a half ago, i took part in my very first english speech contest. when i stood before the microphone with all eyes starring directly at me, i could hardly speak. i stood there, embarrassed and helpless, struggling in vain for the right thing to say. my fears had paralyzed me.

while my passion for english has never changed, i lost my courage to speak in public. when my professor again encouraged me to take part in this competition, i said “no.” i couldn’t endure yet another painful experience. he looked me straight in the eye and said something that pierced my heart. i will never forget his words. “look,” he said, “we all have our fears, and you have yours. you could twist your ankle in a basketball game, but then be afraid to ever play again. running away can never dispel your fears, but action will. a winner is not one who never fails, but one who never quits.”

i spent a whole day with his words twisting and turning in my mind. then i made the bravest and wisest decision of my life: i would face my fears – and take part in the competition!

as it turned out, my dear old professor was right. now, here i am, once again standing before a microphone. my heart is beating fast, and my mouth is dry, but most importantly, i have faced my fears -- and that makes all the difference!

thank you.

today is halloween in the west. i went to suzhou park with my parents and went to halloween.

i feel very lively as soon as i get in! many, many monsters! they are all tourists. then i saw the floats! the people on the float came down, cats, death, vampires and so on. i took pictures with them.

the most dynamic is me (wang xin), i am wearing orange pumpkin, with pumpkin cap and pumpkin basket, i am the pumpkin fairy! dad wears a skeleton head mask, mom with a fluorescent stick, we are the devil combination, we follow the crowd to the caribbean square. oh! it turned out that there was a performance, and the show was a dance, and it was wonderful. who's patting me on the shoulder when we're looking at it in high spirits? i looked back, and there was a monster that startled me! the actor finished his performance and ran off to frighten everyone.

it was getting late, and dad said, "we're going home." then we went away.

anyway, today i had an interesting halloween.

the dragon boat festival occurs on the fifth day of the fifth moon of the lunar calendar(陰曆). it is one of the three most important of the annual chinese festivals. the other two are the autumn moon festival and chinese new year.

the story of this colorful festival concerns a famous chinese scholar-statesman(政治家) named chu yuan(屈原) who, some three centuries before the birth of christ, served the king of chu(楚懷王)during the warring states period. as a loyal minister(大臣), chu yuan at first enjoyed the full confidence and respect of his sovereign(君主). eventually, through the intrigues of his rivals, he was discredited(不足信的, 不名譽的).

chu yuan was never able to regain(恢復) the emperor's favor and on the fifth day of the fifth moon in the year 295 b.c.(before christ), at the age of 37, chu yuan clasped a stone to his chest and plunged into the milo river(汨羅江) in the hunan province(湖南省).

respecting the minister as an upright(正直的) and honest man, the people who lived in the area jumped into their boats and rushed out in a vain search for him. this unsuccessful rescue attempt is a part of what the dragon boat festival commemorates every year.

probably the most exciting and interesting aspect of the festival is the racing of the dragon boats. these races not only symbolize the people's attempt to save chu yuan, they also demonstrate the chinese virtues(美德) of cooperation and teamwork.

another activity of the festival is the making and eating of a kind of dumpling called tzungtzu (粽子). when it became known that chu yuan was gone forever, the people, living along the river, threw cooked rice into the water as a sacrifice(祭品) to their dead hero. they wrapped(包) rice in bamboo leaves(粽葉), and stuffed(填滿) it with ham, beans, bean paste(豆沙), salted egg yokes, sausages, nuts, and/or vegetables.

to the chinese the fifth lunar moon is more than just the dragon boat festival. since antiquity(古代), they have believed that this month is a pestilential and danger-fraught(瘟疫的及充滿危險的) period. children born in this month are said to be difficult to raise(撫養), and people tend to concentrate their efforts during this time attempting to protect their families from ills and misfortune. the day of the dragon boat festival is customarily the time when cleaning and sanitation(衞生) are stressed(着重, 強調). most families hang calamus(菖蒲) and artemisia(艾草) above their doors, both as a decoration and as a preventive against pestilence.

ancient folk medicines(民間藥物) such as realgar(雄黃酒)are added to the food eaten on the festival day. this is believed to prevent disease and to promote a healthy digestive system(消化器官). the drinking of realgar in wine supposedly relieves(解除) the effects of poisons accumulated in human bodies.

the sachets (hsiang pao in chinese香包) are very popular with children and they vie(競爭) with each other to collect as many as possible. children are not the only ones who collect hsiang pao. older people are often given them as a symbol of respect, and they are highly prized because of the intricate(複雜的) and beautiful embroidery(刺繡) that adorns(裝飾) them.

the dragon boat festival is an entertaining and enjoyable event. it gives the observer an opportunity to glimpse a part of the rich chinese cultural heritage.
